Why A Collective?

The best thing about a collective is that, by design, you are empowered. You choose the doula who will accompany you on your journey. Your chosen doula will be with you during labor and birth unless backup support becomes necessary. In those rare instances, you have a wealth of experienced doulas available to assist you. Ninety-eight percent of the time, you give birth with your chosen doula in attendance. Each doula in our collective is an independent business owner with unique skills and offerings. It is common for our clients to utilize the adjunct services provided by another TDC doula.

Benefits for Parents:

  • They choose their doula

  • Their doula has a team of support behind them

  • They have dependable backup support from like-minded doulas

  • Easy access to reliable adjunct care

  • Their doula has access to reliable resources from within the collective

As a collective, we collaborate to provide comprehensive care to families while ensuring a reliable backup system. We offer three monthly Zoom meetings for our clients to meet their backups and ask questions about our support system.

TDC doulas share the philosophy that doula support in the early active phase of labor, whether at home or following admission to your birth center or hospital, is important for continuity of care and smooth progression of labor. Penny Simkin, a renowned expert in childbirth and labor support, emphasizes early labor as it is crucial for a positive birth experience and influences the overall course of labor. We believe the “right” birth is a well-supported birth which honors the needs and autonomy of those moving through the process.
